Choosing toys for preschoolers - The 3 basic rules

Parents often ask me which toys can best stimulate their childrens' cognitive, emotional and motor skills. I answer: Choose passionately, choose wisely (based on the child's unique interests and abilities) and choose differently (try to expand the child's play spectrum)

Here are three basic categories of toys to choose for children of preschool age 2-6 year old.

1. Building and construction toys: Stimulate the child's imagination, creative thinking and problem solving skills. At the same time, the child improves its tactile perception and fine motor skills.
Building blocks, lego etc are some examples.

2. Art and craft kits: Drawing, coloring, creating from simple materials is a great challenge for the child's mind. Not only does this activity stimulates child's imagination and memory skills, it's one of the best ways for the child to express emotions. It also trains hand-eye coordination skills.

3. Material/toys for imaginative and pretend play: dolls, dollhouses and castles, dress-up accessories, cooking sets etc . Playing a character, a role is an amazing way for the child to express thoughts and emotions, to develop language and memory skills, and the best way to improve social interaction skills.

How to stimulate our kid's creativity in art projects- Part I

In this (and in an upcoming) post, I will be sharing some advice to parents who ask how they can stimulate their kids' creativity, including kids with special needs and kids who don't show any interest in art, colouring or drawing. I hope you'll find this helpful!

• Encourage your child to try out different materials

Children's imagination is endless. They see and creat art from just about everything! This is why kids must have access to various materials and explore different techniques. So don't worry too much about a messy kitchen or a dirty couch. Give your child the chance to explore the world through his/her own imagination!
Some practical tips:
a. When shopping or collecting materials for art projects, always try to choose something different, challenging, something your child has not tried before.
b. There are children that enjoy working with materials they already know and feel comfortable with, which is great! What you can do is to sit nearby and try working with something new once in a while, so that they can see you and get inspired to try themselves.
c. Different kids have different abilities and interests. Kids with specials needs have also abilities and interests that should not be underestimated. Kids of different ages have also different grades of capabilities in creation. Respect your child's uniqueness and build upon it!

Try out different materials

• Creating is a multisensory process

Art is not only about sight. When creating art, all senses are involved. It is important for us to remember that and try to stimulate our childrens' senses all the way, from collecting materials to enjoying the finalised masterpiece.
Some practical tips:
a. Materials for art projects don't always have to be bought in a fancy store. They can be found in the nature as well. It is a wonderful feeling to collect sticks and seashells by the seaside, while hearing the seagulls and feeling the ocean breeze. What a great combination of sensory stimuli just before creating art!
b. When the art project is done, take some time to discuss this with your child. Ask questions, like what is this that you created, what inspired you, why did you choose this colour etc. Another way, if your child doesn't like talking about his/her creations is to ask them to describe their art with three words, or three colors, or a sound, a song, a person or an animal. In this way, you help your child to verbally describe the art project and connect this art with the stimulation of other senses, in order to create an emotional memory of it. And then appraise your child's work and creativity. In this way, you help your kid build self-confidence and love for art and creation.

There is something really relaxing with drawing. I totally understand why my kids spend every afternoon drawing and colouring and I love it. It is extremely rare that I find time to do it myself.. just take my cup of coffee, sit in front of a white piece of paper and let my imagination run wild! This is a sample I am working on for a story with dragons.

Fun activities for preschoolers - Εναλλακτικές δραστηριότητες για παιδιά προσχολικής ηλικίας

The key to keep your child happy and active is to find new activities for indoor and outdoor play. This does not require spending money, only having the energy and the imagination to create fun activities for your child! Here are some ideas:

Making sensory/discovery bottles: Recycle used plastic bottles to fun sensory bottles and stimulate your kid's motor and sensory skills. You can use various materials to create different themes and provide different stimuli. Here I have used buttons of different colours and half-filled the bottle with water. Instead of water, you may use sand, stones, syrup (such as corn syrup) to provide different sounds and effects. Instead of buttons, you may use shells, confetti, glitter etc.

Making sensory/discovery bottles for toddlers is easy and fun

Drawing: A great activity for preschoolers with lots of space for creativity and innovations. From finger painting to sponge and brush painting, painting with sand, yarn, foam, sticks, painting on paper, canvas, wood, painting stones, painting on the wall, a mirror, glass, the sand.. endless potentials for kids to explore their drawing skills. You can find excellent ideas here.

Sponge painting for toddlers

Play surfaces and curtains: What's a better way to recycle old CDs than a play curtain for kids? Use your imagination and recycle old material to play surfaces of various colours, sounds and effects! It's great for kids' motor activities and senses. And better for the environment than bying another plastic toy. Other sensory surfaces with plastic bags and colour you may find here.

Πώς θα είναι το παιδί σας χαρούμενο και δραστήριο; Ανακαλύπτοντας μαζί καινούριες δραστηριότητες! Και αυτό μπορείτε να το κάνετε εντελώς ανέξοδα, φυσικά. Το μόνο που χρειάζεται είναι ενέργεια, φαντασία και χρόνος! Εδώ θα βρείτε μερικές ιδέες:

Φτιάξετε μπουκάλια εξερεύνησης: Ανακυκλώστε χρησιμοποιημένα πλαστικά μπουκάλια σε μπουκάλια εξερεύνησης και κινητοποιήστε τόσο την κινητικότητα όσο και τις αισθήσεις του παιδιού σας, παρέχοντας ερεθίσματα ήχου και εικόνας. Μπορείτε να χρησιμοποιήσετε διάφορα υλικά για να προσφέρετε διαφορετικά ερεθίσματα στο παιδί σας. Εδώ έχουμε φτιάξει ένα μπουκάλι με νερό και πολύχρωμα κουμπιά. Αντί για νερό, μπορείτε να γεμίσετε το μπουκάλι εξερεύνησης με παχύρρευστο υλικό όπως σιρόπι. Επίσης μπορείτε να χρησιμοποιήσετε άμμο, πέτρες, οδοντογλυφίδες κτλ. Αντί για κουμπιά, μπορείτε να χρησιμοποιήσετε κομφετί, γκλίτερ, βότσαλα κτλ.

Ανακαλύψτε ζωγραφίζοντας: Ωραία δραστηριότητα και πολύ δημοφιλής για τα παιδάκια προσχολικής ηλικίας και όχι μόνο. Το σημαντικότερο είναι ότι δίνει τη δυνατότητα να κινητοποιήσετε τη δημιουργικότητα του παιδιού σας! Εκτός από τα κλασσικά είδη ζωγραφικής με ξυλομπογιές, νερομπογιές με πινέλα και κηρομπογιές, μπορείτε να χρησιμοποιήσετε σφουγγάρια και βούρτσες διαφόρων ειδών, να πειραματιστείτε με άμμο, αφρό, καθώς και με διαφορετικές επιφάνειες εκτός από χαρτί/ακουαρέλα, καμβά, ξύλο, νήμα, πέτρες, ειδικό γυαλί κτλ.. Είναι ανεξάντλητες οι ιδέες που μπορείτε να δώσετε στο παιδί σας προκειμένου να εξερευνήσει αυτή την πλευρά του εαυτού του και των ικανοτήτων του. Μπορείτε να βρείτε εκπληκτικές ιδέες εδώ.

Finger painting is fun!

Επιφάνειες και κουρτίνες εξερεύνησης: Ανακυκλώσαμε παλιά CD και δημιουργήσαμε μία 'κουρτίνα εξερεύνησης' και μας συνεπήρε το παιχνίδι -απρόσμενα θα ομολογήσω- για ώρες. Χρησιμοποιήστε τη φαντασία σας και ανακυκλώστε παλιά υλικά σε επιφάνειες για παιχνίδι, δημιουργώντας διάφορα εφέ με χρώματα και ήχους. Καλό και για την τσέπη μας και για το περιβάλλον, καθώς μας γλιτώνει από το να αγοράσουμε άλλο ένα πλαστικό παιχνίδι! Εδώ μπορείτε να δείτε και πώς να δημιουργήσετε μία επιφάνεια εξερεύνησης με χρώμα και νερό για βρέφη.

Kids' April Activities - Όλες οι παιδικές δραστηριότητες για τον Απρίλη

April is all about colors and crafts. Enjoy our April projects (so far):

• a dollhouse from recycled paper milk carton with the napkin technique which we learned watching a video at the amazing blog aneraida
• sensory activities for toddlers and fingerpaint with the use of colored water in sealed plastic bags of different surfaces - a great activity not only for developing the sense of touch, but for motor skills as well (you may find more activities for toddlers here) 
• play building for kids, using various materials, from lego and jenga to sand, sticks and stones
• making the kids' own garden, planting, decorating, watering the flowers
• making home-made icecream with milk and nutella, very easy to do and taste so good!

Έφτασα κι εγώ στο σημείο να αποδεχτώ ότι όντας μαμά, ιατρός, εν μέσω συγγραφής ενός διδακτορικού και μακριά από γιαγιάδες, παππούδες ή άλλο χέρι βοηθείας, αδυνατώ να γράφω καθημερινά και στο μπλογκ μου.. Αποφάσισα λοιπόν να συνοψίσω όλες τις δραστηριότητες που έχουμε κάνει αυτό τον μήνα σε μία ανάρτηση και ιδού! Αυτό το μπλογκ δημιουργήθηκε άλλωστε προς έμπνευση των πολυάσχολων, εργαζόμενων γονέων, ότι ΝΑΙ έχουμε χρόνο για τα παιδιά μας και πώς μπορούμε να τους τον διαθέσουμε με τον καλύτερο δυνατό τρόπο.
Θυμάμαι όταν φοιτούσα στην ιατρική σχολή στην Αθήνα, μου είχε πει κάποια φορά η τότε επιμελήτριά μου: "Καλλιόπη, η θεραπεία για τον ασθενή είναι ένα μέρος φαρμακευτική αγωγή και τρία μέρη αγάπη!" Και εγώ με τη σειρά μου θα κάνω μία παραλλαγή και θα πω ότι η ανάπτυξη των παιδιών μας είναι ένα μέρος τα γονίδια που έχουν κληρονομήσει και τρία μέρη το περιβάλλον στο οποίο μεγαλώνουν -ο χρόνος και τα ερεθίσματα που τους παρέχουμε ως γονείς-.

O Aπρίλης μέχρι τώρα είχε πολύ χρώμα και κατασκευές:

Εμπνευστήκαμε από το καταπληκτικό μπλογκ aneraida και φτιάξαμε ένα καλοκαιρινό κουκλόσπιτο με την τεχνική χαρτοπετσέτας. Ως βάση χρησιμοποιήσαμε ένα χάρτινο κουτί από βρεφικό γάλα το οποίο ανακυκλώθηκε σε κουκλόσπιτο.. Πρώτη απόπειρα με την τεχνική αυτή και εγώ και η κόρη μου καθίσαμε και απασχοληθήκαμε με τις ώρες, πολύ μας άρεσε!

Για το μικρό μου ζουζούνι, δημιούργησα μία επιφάνεια για εξερεύνηση και ανάπτυξη των αισθήσεων. Τα υλικά που χρησιμοποίησα ήταν υδατοδιαλυτό χρώμα κατάλληλο για παιδιά και διαφανείς σακούλες με διαφορετική υφή -σκληρή, μαλακή, με φυσαλλίδες κτλ.-. Η μικρή μου μπουσούλησε επάνω, έπιασε, περιεργάστηκε, ενώ η μεγάλη το βρήκε διασκεδαστικό να κάνει ζωγραφική με το δάκτυλο (finger painting). Ωραία δραστηριότητα και καθαρή, σε αντίθεση με τη ζωγραφική με σφουγγάρι που ναι μεν έπεσε πολύ γέλιο, αλλά και πολύ πλύσιμο μετά!

 Η μεγάλη μου κόρη δείχνει τελευταία μεγάλο ενδιαφέρον για κατασκευές. Ωραία, λέω, μπορεί να γίνει αρχιτέκτονας το παιδί και ακολούθησα κι εγώ τις αρχές montessori, να αναπτύξω δηλαδή το ενδιαφέρον της ακόμη περισσότερο δίνοντας τα κατάλληλα ερεθίσματα. Παίζει και δημιουργεί σε lego, jenga αλλά και στην άμμο με ξύλα και πέτρες.

Φυτέψαμε τα ανοιξιάτικα λουλούδια μας! Η μικρή διάλεξε τα γλαστράκια, έβαλε το χώμα, τα λουλούδια, τα πότισε και συνεχίζει, καθώς είναι ο κήπος της λέει.. Και διακοσμήσαμε με κορδέλες και πασχαλίτσες..

Και για να σας γλυκάνω, κράτησα το πιο γλυκό για το τέλος. Φτιάξαμε παγωτά με γάλα και νουτέλα, πανεύκολα (τα έκανε μόνη της η τρίχρονη κόρη μου) και πολύ γευστικά!

Best DIY castles for kids - Τα καλύτερα παιδικά κάστρα είναι αυτά που φτιάχνουμε μόνοι μας!

Big castles with knights, princesses and horses are all kids favorite! If you really want your kid to enjoy playing, you may find here some fantastic ideas for DIY castles for kids!

 

Φτιάξτε μόνοι σας φανταστικά κάστρα για να παίζει το παιδί σας! Εδώ θα βρείτε μία λίστα με υπέροχες ιδέες, με όλες τις οδηγίες πατώντας στους αντίστοιχους συνδέσμους. Μπορείτε να χρησιμοποιήσετε ανακυκλώσιμα υλικά που έχετε ήδη στο σπίτι, και μαζί με το παιδί σας να ζωγραφίσετε, να κόψετε, να κολλήσετε και να περάσετε ΤΕΛΕΙΑ!

 

Level of difficulty: Low

• Castle from recycled cardboard. Can be done in five hours!
• Castle from cardboard box and toilet paper rolls. Also easy to make and you can ask your kid to paint it.
• Another beautiful castle from cardboard boxes and toilet paper rolls.
• Cardboard castle for lots of fun!
• Princess castle that you can do together with your kid from recycled material.

Level of difficulty: Moderate

• Castle from cardboard box created for a princess party. This is an inspiring castle, it may take some time to put it together, but will turn your kids' room into playroom paradise!
• Princess/knight castle from cardboard. Amazing castle with good structure that can last for long.
• Nappy box castle. Extremely cute! This one is definitely for crafty moms!
• Knight castle loft bed. Great idea and relatively easy to execute if you have the appropriate bed.

Level of difficulty: High

• Princess castle loft bed. Amazing! Ana White always has great ideas for DIY projects and this is really inspiring for parents who can/enjoy building, cutting and screwing!
• Painted castle for the playroom. If you CAN paint, this is the castle of your kids' dreams!

Kids drawings and sources of inspiration - Παιδικές ζωγραφιές και η πηγή έμπνευσής τους

We've enjoyed some great drawings during our Drawing Contest for 2012 and we couldn't help wondering what inspires these children to draw such beautiful pieces of art.

 

Experts suggest that there are four sources of inspiration for kids creating art:

• Ordinary experience, which involves most of children's spontaneous drawing
• Natural and constructed environment, which involves art pieces of observational work
• Inner feelings and imagination, which involves expressive and imaginative work
• Quest for order, which includes all careful and deliberate designs and patterns, intentionally-created art

 

Younger children use color most effectively to express feelings, while as they grow, children use color expressively, to create detailed art work. With experience, children use the different colors and tones to give a three-dimensional form to their design.

 

Memorable visual stimuli are a valuable source for insiration to artists of all ages. A visit to a museum, an exhibition, the cinema, the circus etc are stimulating ways of triggering creative responses. 

 

Experts suggest that providing children with different materials and tools is an effective way to trigger a child's creativity. Younger children enjoy the tactile experience of paint, using a variety of instruments, i.e. brushes, sticks and sponges. Older children can get inspired by different types of drawing papers, surfaces like canvas, and materials such as pencils, water colors, oils.

 

One of our winners of the Drawing Contest 2012, Eleni, 9 years old, participated in the esa.kids drawing competition for kids in EU and won the 1st Prize! This is her drawing entitled 'The Moon'. Our congratulations to Eleni and a thank you to Eleni's mom for supporting her daughter's talent and for sharing Eleni's love for art with us!

Another winner of our Drawing Contest, Giannis, 10 years old, always carries a pocket notebook, as his mother told us, and through his pencil drawings he expresses his emotions. Here is a pencil drawing that he made after he hit his head at school. He even drew the ice that he was holding at the same time! A great example of a child expressing his emotions through drawing! Thank you Giannis' mom for sharing this beautiful picture and Giannis' amazing sketch with us!

Another winner of our Drawing Contest 2012, Nancy, won the prize 'Rising Star' with a drawing that she made at 3.8 years of age. We asked Nancy's mom the source that may have insired Nancy to draw such thick and long hair to the girl in the drawing and she answered that the source of insiration is herself as she also has very thick hair!

Ποια είναι η πηγή έμπνευσης των παιδιών όταν ζωγραφίζουν;

Σύμφωνα με τους ειδικούς, υπάρχουν τέσσερις βασικές πηγές έμπνευσης:

• Η καθημερινή εμπειρία, που περιλαμβάνει το μεγαλύτερο μέρος της ζωγραφικής των παιδιών
• Το φυσικό και τεχνιτό περιβάλλον, που περιλαμβάνει έργα κατόπιν παρατήρησης
• Τα συναισθήματα και η φαντασία
• Η αναζήτηση της τάξης, που περιλαμβάνει όλα τα σχέδια που γίνονται με συγκεκριμένο σκοπό και υπό συγκεκριμένη θεματολογία, ακόμη κι αν το αποτέλεσμα είναι μία αφηρημένη εικόνα

Έντονες εικόνες, οπτικά ερεθίσματα που εντυπώνονται στη μνήμη, όπως μία βόλτα σε ένα μουσείο, μία έκθεση ζωγραφικής, στο σινεμά, στο τσίρκο, αποτελούν ιδιαίτερα παραγωγική πηγή έμπνευσης για τα παιδιά.

 

Η επαφή των μικρότερων παιδιών με διάφορα υλικά, όπως πινέλα, σπόγγους, μπογιές διαφόρων ειδών, οξύνει τη δημιουργικότητά τους. Τα μεγαλύτερα παιδιά αντλούν έμπνευση από τη χρήση διαφορετικών επιφανειών ζωφραφικής, όπως διαφορετικά είδη χαρτιών, καμβά κτλ., και διαφόρων υλικών, όπως νερομπογιές, ξυλομπογιές, μολύβι, κάρβουνο, χρώματα λαδιού.

We're getting ready for Halloween! I wanted to make something special for the kids, so my daughter drew a painting in Halloween colors, which we then used to make a candy box and decorated with bats and spiders. For the card-making we used Panduro design and glitter glue.

Young Greek Artists Part 2 - Διαγωνισμός Ζωγραφικής για Παιδιά Μέρος 2

Child and Play is organizing a painting contest for young greek artists up to 12 years old. The paintings will be published at weekly posts until the end of 2012, then an artist will be selected as the prize winner of this contest. Your comments are mostly welcomed!

Το Child and Play, με αγάπη στο παιδί και την τέχνη, διοργανώνει διαγωνισμό ζωγραφικής που θα διαρκέσει μέχρι το τέλος του 2012. Λεπτομέρειες σχετικά με τη συμμετοχή στον διαγωνισμό θα βρείτε εδώ. Οι ζωγραφιές των νεαρών καλλιτεχνών θα δημοσιεύονται εδώ, στο μπλογκ του Child and Play, μέσω εβδομαδιαίας δημοσίευσης. Έχουμε την τιμή να φιλοξενούμε τη ζωγράφο Γιώτα Βασιλείου που θα σχολιάζει κάθε ζωγραφιά ξεχωριστά. Παράλληλα, οι ζωγραφιές θα λαμβάνουν σχόλια από την ομάδα του Child and Play καθώς και ελεύθερα από τους αναγνώστες μας. Στο τέλος του χρόνου μία ζωγραφιά θα επιλεχθεί προς βράβευση. Ωστόσο, το Child and Play επιθυμεί να τονίσει ότι δεν είναι η βράβευση ο αυτοσκοπός αυτού του διαγωνισμού, αλλά η συμμετοχή και ανάδειξη του ταλέντου που κάθε παιδί κρύβει μέσα του!

Painting No4: Artist: Girl 1.5 years old

 

Στην διδακτική της τέχνης χωρίζουμε τις δυνατότητες που έχουν τα παιδιά πάνω στη ζωγραφική, ανάλογα με την ηλικία τους. Το πρώτο στάδιο ξεκινάει από τους 18 μήνες έως τα 2,5 χρόνια και λέγεται στάδιο της μουτζούρας. Είναι η ηλικία κατά την οποία το παιδί αποκτά καλύτερο έλεγχο του καρπού και μπορεί να χειρίζεται ένα μολύβι ή μαρκαδόρο. Συνήθως τα παιδιά στο στάδιο του μουτζουρώματος, προτιμάνε τον κύκλο σαν σχήμα και επιλέγουν τυχαία τα χρώματα που χρησιμοποιούν. Επίσης, ακριβώς επειδή είναι μωρά ακόμη, δεν έχουν επίγνωση του τι θέλουν να φτιάξουν (π.χ. τη μαμά ή τον μπαμπά, όπως γίνετα στο επόμενο στάδιο) χαίρονται όμως πολύ την διαδικασία του μουτζουρώματος!! Για το συγκεκριμένο παιδάκι εγώ θα έδινα συγχαρητήρια στους γονείς που του προσφέρουν τη δυνατότητα, σε αυτή την ηλικία, να κάνει τις καταπληκτικές μουτζούρες του με νερομπογιές και που σίγουρα θα του προσφέρουν πληθώρα ερεθισμάτων!! Μακάρι να είχαν τις ίδιες ευκαιρίες όλα τα παιδιά του κόσμου.. Καλή συνέχεια!!

Painting No5: Artist: Boy 5 years old

Αντίστοιχα με το σχόλιο μου στην ζωγραφιά Νο4 θα έλεγα ότι και ο πιτσιρικάς μας εδώ, έχει κάνει μια ζωγραφιά χαρακτηριστική της ηλικίας του. Τα παιδιά από 2,5 έως 4-5 χρονών είναι πλέον σε θέση να φτιάχνουν τις πρώτες τους μορφές και φαντάζονται ότι ζωγραφίζουν οικεία τους πρόσωπα, γονείς κλπ , αλλά και ήρωες από κόμικς ή την τηλεόραση. Δεν είναι σε θέση ακόμη να αποδίδουν πολύ ρεαλιστικά τις μορφές και για αυτό ονομάζουμε αύτο το στάδιο εξέλιξης "ο άνθρωπος γυρίνος". Στη συγκεκριμένη ζωγραφιά μου αρέσει η πληθώρα προσώπων που έχει βάλει ο μικρός μας φίλος, πιθανόν να δείχνει έντονη φαντασία!! Θα ήθελα επίσης να πω ότι σ΄αυτές τις ηλικίες, ειδικά, είναι πολύ καλό να προτρέπουμε τα παιδιά να ζωγραφίζουν πολύ. Εκφράζονται έτσι, ζωηρεύει η φαντασία τους και μαθαίνουν να επικοινωνούν με πολλούς τρόπους!! Καλή συνέχεια λοιπόν και σε αυτόν το μικρό ζωγράφο μας!!!

Drawing and coloring develop the brain - Η ζωγραφική εξελίσσει το μυαλό του παιδιού

Pablo Picasso once said ‘Every child is an artist’. Art contributes to the child’s development in many ways. Let’s take drawing for example. Drawing and coloring help the child develop various domains, such as:

-       Visual perception and creative thinking; to observe the environment, capture it and try to portray it. To express what is otherwise difficult to be expressed.

-       Communication skills; to communicate visually, beyond verbal language. To communicate feelings.

-       Memory, especially emotional memory

-       Problem-solving skills; where to start and finish, which area to work and how in order to achieve the desired result

-       Hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills

-       Emotional and social skills; to develop patience, concentration and focus; to develop self-confidence and appreciation of one’s efforts and uinqueness.

O Pablo Picasso κάποτε είπε ‘Κάθε παιδί είναι ένας καλλιτέχνης’. Η τέχνη συμβάλλει στην ανάπτυξη του παιδιού με πολλούς τρόπους. Ας πάρουμε τη ζωγραφική για παράδειγμα. Ζωγραφίζοντας, το παιδί αναπτύσσει:

-       Οπτική αντίληψη και δημιουργική σκέψη. Παρατηρεί το περιβάλλον, συλλαμβάνει μία ενδιαφέρουσα εικόνα και προσπαθεί να την αποδώσει με χρώμα. Εκφράζει αυτό που είναι δύσκολο να εκφραστεί με άλλον τρόπο.

-       Επικοινωνιακές δεξιότητες. Το παιδί μαθαίνει να επικοινωνεί πέραν του λόγου. Μπορεί να επικοινωνεί συναισθήματα που δεν μπορεί να εκφράσει διαφορετικά, π.χ. με λόγια.

-       Την μνήμη, ιδίως τη συναισθηματική μνήμη, καθώς τα παιδιά έχουν την τάση να ζωγραφίζουν θέματα που τα έχουν αγγίξει συναισθηματικά, ευχάριστες -ή ακόμη και δυσάρεστες- αναμνήσεις

-       Ικανότητα επίλυσης προβλημάτων. Το παιδί επιλέγει από πού θα ξεκινήσει και πού θα τελειώσει, ποια περιοχή θα ζωγραφίσει και πώς, ώστε να επιτύχει το επιθυμητό αποτέλεσμα.

-       Συντονισμός χεριού-ματιού και λεπτή κινητικότητα, ιδίως την τριποδική λαβή

-      Συναισθηματικές και κοινωνικές δεξιότητες. Το παιδί μαθαίνει να αναπτύσσει υπομονή, συγκέντρωση και εστίαση. Αναπτύσσει αυτοπεποίθηση και μαθαίνει να εκτιμάει την προσπάθεια και τη μοναδικότητα.

Και το πιο σημαντικό, το παιδί σας διασκεδάζει με δημιουργικό τρόπο!

Drawing and recycling - Ζωγραφική και ανακύκλωση

 

During our summer holidays we decided to renew our drawing material.. What a great opportunity to make a cool pencil case from recycled plastic bottles. My daughter loved it! After we finished making it, she placed her new colored pencils and we hanged it on the wall. Drawing and recycling hand-in-hand!  

Τον Σεπτέμβρη πειραματιζόμαστε με τα χρώματα. Αφού ζωγραφίσαμε με τις καινούριες μας ξυλομπογιές, αποφασίσαμε να μάθουμε και την έννοια της ανακύκλωσης. Έτσι, η κόρη μου κι εγώ φτιάξαμε μία μοντέρνα μολυβοθήκη τοίχου από ανακυκλώσιμα πλαστικά μπουκάλια.
